First and foremost, I’m an outdoor girl.

I am happiest hiking with my dogs, watching a bee enjoy the nectar of a comfrey plant, exploring a new waterfall, gardening in my backyard, spotting whales along the coast, hanging out around a campfire, floating down the river, or sitting on my deck and watching hawks soar across the sky.

I’m also an urban dweller.

I like everything close at hand–the grocery store, the gym, the doctor, the post office.

So I live on the edge of the city, where I can get to trails and sagebrush in a few minutes. A little further and I can explore forests, rivers, and wilderness. It’s about as perfect as I can imagine.

Neysa Jensen

My childhood was an adventure.

My dad was a National Park Service ranger, and we lived in some amazing places. I was born in Yosemite–actually in the park, right near Yosemite Falls, which may explain my lifelong fascination with waterfalls, rivers, and all things water-related. Then we lived at the Statue of Liberty–right on the island where we saw the statue every day. (A book about that will be forthcoming.) Then we lived at Wind Cave National Park, in the gorgeous Black Hills, or Paha Sapa as the Lakota people call them. All of these places informed who I am and how I see life.

I was born in the 1960s, came of age in the ‘70s, went to college in the ‘80s, and had a family in the ‘90s. I started writing novels in the 2000s. For most of my adult life, I have worked with words, writing and editing for diverse clients, all while perfecting my craft and skills as a fiction author.
